MemberI’ve had a Sub for a couple years and after the first week it just melts into your wrist—bracer/clam is really comfy and it totally works as a daily. It’s mechanically solid and reliable, but remember it’s a mechanical watch so expect occasional regulation and a proper service every 7–10 years, which can run from a few hundred to over a thousand depending on what needs doing. If you want a rugged, versatile piece that looks great with jeans or a suit it’s practical, but yeah it’s overkill if you just want a no-fuss beater you won’t mind replacing. Personally I enjoy it and the resale peace-of-mind, but don’t buy solely for hype.

MemberI’m not totally sure it «justifies» the price for everyone, but for me it did because I actually wear it daily and it still feels worth it. Rolex tends to hold value better than most, though resale isn’t guaranteed and servicing every few years is definitely a real cost to factor in. If you’re worried about wearing it enough maybe try a pre-owned Sub or a cheaper diver first to see if you actually reach for it. I think it’s more than hype if it’s something you genuinely enjoy, but that’s a very personal call.

MemberYep, totally practical as a daily — tough, gets scratches but cleans up and wears well, just make sure it feels right on the wrist. Ask for service history and look for signs of authenticity (weight, engravings, how the cyclops/bezel line up) and don’t buy blind; a sketchy seller is the real red flag. Expect a service or repairs to cost anything from a few hundred to over a thousand depending on what’s needed and where you take it. If the price feels fair and you like it, try it on and trust your gut — I usually do, Mom covers rent so I’m chill about splurges.
