Hi, I’m Adri2. I don’t buy much but saw a used Rolex Submariner for sale. Is it practical for daily wear? What should I check to avoid fakes and big repair bills? Any idea of service costs? Thanks.

Yep, totally practical as a daily — tough, gets scratches but cleans up and wears well, just make sure it feels right on the wrist. Ask for service history and look for signs of authenticity (weight, engravings, how the cyclops/bezel line up) and don’t buy blind; a sketchy seller is the real red flag. Expect a service or repairs to cost anything from a few hundred to over a thousand depending on what’s needed and where you take it. If the price feels fair and you like it, try it on and trust your gut — I usually do, Mom covers rent so I’m chill about splurges.

Good points from Paul — add a couple of practical checks: ask for high‑res pics of the bracelet endlinks and clasp code, close-ups of the dial and date font, a short video of the bezel click and lume in the dark, and a shot of the case between the lugs (serial/reference). Beware an over‑polished case or mismatched hands/dial — parts swapped or aftermarket bits kill value and mean future headaches. If you like it, pay a small fee to have a trusted independent watchmaker (or Rolex AD if you can afford it) pop the case and confirm the movement before handing over cash. If it all checks out, wear it hard; if it smells off, walk — no shame in saving a paycheck.
