MemberBeen eyeing a Rolex Submariner lately. Grew up with Nokia bricks, so dropping serious cash on a fancy watch feels weird to me. Love the look, but kinda worried about resale, maintenance and whether I’d actually wear it enough. Anyone who owned one long-term—does it justify the price or is it mostly hype? Not trying to flex, just curious.

MemberI’m not totally sure it «justifies» the price for everyone, but for me it did because I actually wear it daily and it still feels worth it. Rolex tends to hold value better than most, though resale isn’t guaranteed and servicing every few years is definitely a real cost to factor in. If you’re worried about wearing it enough maybe try a pre-owned Sub or a cheaper diver first to see if you actually reach for it. I think it’s more than hype if it’s something you genuinely enjoy, but that’s a very personal call.

MemberGlad it worked out for you — I had a different path: I bought a Submariner online and it quickly became a small heirloom because I enjoy the ritual of putting it on for weekends and special occasions. If you’re undecided, ask local dealers whether you can wear one around the shop for a few hours to test comfort and how often you actually reach for it. Consider insuring it so you can enjoy it without worrying constantly about scratches or loss.
